Quality

The Ohio Crankshaft Company's Quality assurance program is based on the Association of American Railroads specification M-1003 Titled: "Specification for Quality Assurance".

AAR's M-1003 establishes requirements for Ohio Crankshaft Quality assurance program for the purpose of ensuring that materials, product and service conform to specified requirements.

Quality Assurance Locomotive Crankshafts

The principle objectives of Ohio Crankshaft's Quality Program are as follows:

1. Fulfillment of customer specified requirements.

Customer's Purchase Order Call-Outs
Customer's Blue Prints
Customer's Specifications

2. Prevention, early detection, and disposition of non-conforming items.

3. Continuously improving the processes that produce these items.

Ohio Crankshaft's Quality assurance program applies throughout all areas of contract performance including contract review, vendor & suppliers approval (AVL), raw material procurement, identification and traceability, stocking, inspection, and issuing of materials.

Ohio Crankshaft performs three special processes:

Welding
All crankshafts have counterweights welded onto the crankshafts.
Heat Treatment
All crankshafts have their pin and bearing journals induction hardened. All camshafts have their bearing and cam lobe induction hardened.
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
Magnetic particle inspection (Mag)

These special processes are performed under controlled conditions in accordance with contractual requirements and specifications by qualified and certified personnel using qualified equipment and procedures.
